Volunteer Work Days at the North End of the Bog
The Friends of Cedarburg Bog need volunteers to clear access trails
for a buckthorn control project at the north end of the Cedarburg Bog
FOCB and the Southeastern Wisconsin Invasive Species Consortium (SEWISC) have funding for a major project to continue our invasive buckthorn control work in the Bog. We need to clear or improve some existing trails at the north end of the Bog to provide access to the work areas for our contracted crews. Clearing these trails with FOCB volunteers will preserve our grant funding for the buckthorn control work. Please help if you can. Dress for the weather and the outdoor work. Bring your work gloves.
We have two dates set to work on this project:
- Saturday, September 7, 9:00 am to Noon, and
- Saturday, September 28, 9:00 am to Noon
Where: Meet at the DNR Cedarburg Bog State Natural Area parking lot on Hwy 33 at the north end of the Bog. [Google Map: C242+RQR Saukville, Wisconsin]
Natural History Workshops
The UWM Field Station located at the Cedarburg Bog offers a series of natural history workshops. These classes offer a unique opportunity to explore focused topics in natural history under the guidance of noted authorities. Hands-on field and laboratory investigations teach ecology, evolution, use of taxonomic keys, and techniques.
